Burghley (Yr 3)
WELCOME TO AUTUMN TERM IN BURGHLEY CLASS
I am so excited to welcome the children back into the Burghley classroom for the start of the new school year. I hope they are all feeling well rested and ready to be back in school.
Our theme for this term is 'Digging Up the Past'. We will be exploring how life changed from the Stone Age to the Iron Age in our history and learning all about rocks, soils and fossils in Science. We will also be exploring the past in English through the books 'Stone Age Boy' and 'Stone Girl Bone Girl'.
During the first few weeks of the term the children will be introduced to Accelerated Reader and how they can use this to complete quizzes and earn certificates. These quizzes can be completed at home as well as at school.
I will be making Knowledge Organisers available via Dojo for your reference. Parents, please do encourage your child to regularly review these at home - it is important that they all learn and understand this knowledge and have further opportunity to discuss it with you at home as will help them to be able to verbalise the knowledge they are learning in class and remotely.
I will continue to keep parents up to date with our learning developments and give out general messages and reminders out on Class Dojo on a daily basis, so do remember to turn on your notifications and continue to check in frequently.
In order to see what we're covering in Term 1, take a look at the Medium Term Theme Plan for Parents below.
If you have any problems at all, please get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org
I look forward to continuing working with you and your child/children.
