Belton (Yr 1)

Welcome back to the first half of the Summer Term or Term 5. We hope you had an enjoyable Easter break with a bit more freedom to be with family and friends.

Knowledge Organisers will be available for both our theme and for core subjects.  Please do encourage your child to regularly review these at home - it is important that they all learn and understand this knowledge and have further opportunity to discuss it with you at home as will help them to be able to verbalise the knowledge they are learning.

We will still be keeping parents up to date with our learning developments and giving general messages and reminders out on Class Dojo so do remember to check in frequently. We are still occasionally setting independent learning (homework) using SeeSaw so don't get rid of your App for this.

In Term 5 and beyond, Belton Class will still be taught by Mrs Jagger and Mrs Griffin who will be teaching on the following days:

  • Monday - Mrs Jagger

  • Tuesday - Mrs Jagger

  • Wednesday morning - Mrs Jagger

  • Wednesday afternoon - Mrs Griffin

  • Thursday - Mrs Griffin

  • Friday - Mrs Griffin

This Summer term our topic is 'Once Upon a Time' .  We will be reading many well known fairy tales, exploring their characters and retelling them in different ways. Jack and the beanstalk will lead us to develop our scientific knowledge of plants. In DT we will develop our skills in building strong, freestanding structures by building Baby Bear a new chair. Our work in geography will further develop our mapping and directional skills, focussing on our local area. Will we find the hidden treasure? Please look at the theme plan below to find further details:

There may be slight adjustments and changes to plans or activities - responding to any changes that may arise.

Reading remains incredibly important; please can you hear your child read 4 times a week. Your child will still gain DOJO points and perhaps a silver or gold certificate for their hard work this term.

If you have any problems at all, please get in touch.
