WELCOME TO THE AUTUMN TERM IN BELTON CLASS

Welcome to Term 1 in Belton. We hope you had a lovely Summer and enjoyed some sunshine with family and friends. It was lovely to meet you and spend some time together at the end of last year. We can't wait to hear about everything you have been up to and get to know the class properly as Year 1s.

We have been planning lot's of exciting lessons and activities for this term. Knowledge Organisers will be available for both our theme and for core subjects.  These are a really useful tool to find out what the children are learning. Please do encourage your child to regularly review these at home - it is important that they all learn and understand this knowledge and have further opportunity to discuss it with you at home as will help them to be able to verbalise the knowledge they are learning.

We will be keeping parents up to date with our learning developments and giving general messages and reminders out on Class Dojo so do remember to check in frequently.

In Term 6 Belton Class will still be taught by Mrs Jagger and Mrs Griffin who will be teaching on the following days:

  • Monday - Mrs Jagger

  • Tuesday - Mrs Jagger

  • Wednesday morning - Mrs Jagger

  • Wednesday afternoon - Mrs Griffin

  • Thursday - Mrs Griffin

  • Friday - Mrs Griffin

This term our topic is 'All about Me'. This will help us to get to know one another and celebrate our differences as a class. We will be thinking about ourselves as humans in Science and labelling the parts of our body. We will be exploring our five senses and using our ideas to write poetry. We will also be reading and writing about some well- known Julia Donaldson books in literacy, starting with The Gruffalo. In RE we will be finding out about the Christian story of Creation and what Christians believe about the beginning of the world and people. As artists, we will be developing our self-portrait skills and looking at other artists work to influence our own. In history, we will find out about some famous nurses and the changes they made to hospital care.

Reading is incredibly important in Year 1; please can you hear your child read 4 times a week. Your child will gain DOJO points and perhaps a silver or gold certificate for their hard work this term.

If you have any problems at all, please get in touch.
