Belton (Yr 1)
WELCOME TO SPRING TERM 3 IN BELTON CLASS
Welcome to Term 3 in Belton. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas break and enjoyed time with your family.
We have been planning lot's of exciting lessons and activities for this term. Knowledge Organisers will be available for both our theme and for core subjects on Dojo. These are a really useful tool to find out what the children are learning. Please do encourage your child to regularly review these at home - it is important that they all learn and understand this knowledge and have further opportunity to discuss it with you at home as will help them to be able to verbalise the knowledge they are learning.
We will be keeping parents up to date with our learning developments and giving general messages and reminders out on Class Dojo so do remember to check in frequently.
Belton Class will still be taught by Mrs Jagger and Mrs Griffin who will be teaching on the following days:
Monday - Mrs Jagger
Tuesday - Mrs Jagger
Wednesday morning - Mrs Jagger
Wednesday afternoon - Mrs Griffin
Thursday - Mrs Griffin
Friday - Mrs Griffin
This term our topic is 'Africa'. We will be exploring the continent of Africa focussing on Kenya. We will discuss similarities and differences in cultures and climates. Hopefully there will be an exciting visit from some animals that we will investigate through our science learning this term. We will be looking at African artwork and creating a piece inspired by African pattern and wildlife. We will retell the story of 'Handa's Surprise' and write riddles and non-fiction information based on books we will read.
Reading is incredibly important in Year 1; please can you hear your child read 4 times a week. Your child will gain DOJO points and perhaps a silver or gold certificate for their hard work this term.
If you have any problems at all, please get in touch.
