Belton (Yr 1)
WELCOME TO SPRING TERM IN BELTON CLASS
Welcome back to the Spring Term in the new year of 2021. We started with such excitement on the 4th January only to be told we were in lockdown once again. I know that we're all disappointed but we do have lots of exciting and important learning planned for the term.
Once again, we will be making Knowledge Organisers available for both our theme and for core subjects. Please do encourage your child to regularly review these at home - it is important that they all learn and understand this knowledge and have further opportunity to discuss it with you at home as will help them to be able to verbalise the knowledge they are learning.
We will be keeping parents up to date with our learning developments and giving general messages and reminders out on Class Dojo on a daily basis during this time, so do remember to turn on your notifications and check in frequently. All of the work we are setting for your child remotely, will be available on SeeSaw - please do let me know if you have any connectivity issues with this and we will do our best to resolve any problems. The weekly overview will be published at the start of the week with activities uploaded on a daily basis. It will help us enormously if you could also upload your child's independent work by the end of the day (or as soon as complete would be even better). We will also be sending you details of the daily 'live' teaching for English & Maths that will be undertaken using Zoom. Again, please let me know if you have particular issues accessing this. Below, you can find both a 'Zoom for parents' safety guide together with a resource bank of online platforms that you can access to support your child's remote learning during lockdown.
If you have any problems at all, please get in touch email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to continuing working with you and your child/children.
In 2020-21, Belton Class will be taught by Mrs Jagger and Mrs Griffin who will be teaching on the following days:
Monday - Mrs Jagger
Tuesday - Mrs Jagger
Wednesday morning - Mrs Jagger
Wednesday afternoon - Mrs Griffin
Thursday - Mrs Griffin
Friday - Mrs Griffin
This Spring term through our online learning we are ‘GOING ON SAFARI to AFRICA’. We will become zoologists and explore the animals found in Africa, classify them and study their different environments. Whilst out on safari we will develop our mapping skills, reading simple maps and using compasses as points of reference to find our way around the reserve. In human geography we will be exploring contrasting areas of Kenya, from the city of Nairobi to the Maasi way of life in the Savannah. In English we will be writing postcards, creating non chronological reports about our favourite African animals, creating riddles, descriptions of people and settings, retelling stories and reading many traditional tales from Africa. As budding Artists, we will create African silhouette pictures, thinking about how to mix different shades of paints and creating our own stunning African sunset.
For further information you can find our learning overview for Spring Term below (see PDF documents)
There may be adjustments and changes to plans or activities as we find the best way of delivering the curriculum online.
Reading remains incredibly important; please can you hear your child read 4 times a week. Your child will still gain DOJO points and perhaps a silver or gold certificate for their hard work this term.
For parents, it is important to check Class Dojo on a regular basis as this is where we will post general updates and reminders.
If you have any problems at all, please get in touch.
