WELCOME TO AUTUMN TERM 1 IN BELTON CLASS

Welcome back to Term 1 in Belton. We hope you had a fantastic summer. We are really looking forward to meeting you!

We have been planning lots of exciting lessons and activities for Year 1. Knowledge Organisers will be available for both our theme and for core subjects on Class Dojo. These are a really useful tool to find out what the children are learning. Please do encourage your child to regularly review these at home - it is important that they all learn and understand this knowledge and have further opportunity to discuss it with you at home as will help them to be able to verbalise the knowledge they are learning. If you require a printout provided for you - just let us know!

We will be keeping parents up to date with our learning developments and giving general messages and reminders out on Class Dojo so do remember to check in frequently.

Belton Class will be taught by Mrs Jagger and Mrs Griffin who will be teaching on the following days:

  • Monday - Mrs Jagger

  • Tuesday - Mrs Jagger

  • Wednesday morning - Mrs Jagger

  • Wednesday afternoon - Mrs Jagger

  • Thursday - Mrs Jagger

  • Friday - Mrs Griffin

This term our topic is 'All About Me'. As scientists we will learn about ourselves as humans. We will identify, name, draw and label the parts of our body and understand which part of our body is linked to which sense. We will explore our senses and ways to keep ourselves healthy on a daily basis. We will be writing a poem using our senses as well as a delicious recipe inspired by The Gruffalo and Room on a Broom by Julia Donaldson. We will discuss e-safety and how to keep ourselves safe online. As historians we will be investigating  hospitals and how they have changed over the years discussing similarities and differences. We will  exploring  famous nurses Florence Nightingale , Mary Seacole and our local hero Edith Cavell and how they have influenced many changes in hospital care. In maths we will be focussing on place value within 10 as well as addition and subtraction.
