Belton (Yr 1)
This year, Belton Class is led by Mrs Jagger (Mon-Weds) and Mrs Ross (Weds-Friday). We are supported by Mrs See (TA) and Mrs Want (HLTA).
Our theme for this term continues as 'All about me’ where we will explore and test our senses through simple investigations, developing our knowledge of the world, its continents, oceans and where we live within it. We will also look at the differences between the countries that make up the UK and where we live. We will be continuing to look at more Julia Donaldson stories and more stories from the Bible, learning how to express our opinions and discovering what they might mean to Christian people. We will develop our communication and money skills using the shop role play area and develop our independent learning by completing our Rainbow challenges.
Alongside our theme we will explore how to become reflective learners by asking ourselves what we have learnt each week and how we hope to improve. We will continue to reflect on our mood and emotions and we will be exploring how to portray this using colour tones by creating our own Jackson Pollack style mood paintings.
Belton class PE is now on a Monday and Tuesday. However, we do ask that your child's PE kit is in school every day, including trainers and outdoor kit as well as a change of socks. Thank you. Please be reminded that if your child has their ears pierced, they must be able to remove and replace their own ear piercings.
For a full overview of all areas of the curriculum we will cover in Term 2 please see the theme web attached below (click on the PDF below the theme web image).
We ask that you hear your child read FOUR times a week and don’t forget to sign the reading diary so house points can be given. Each house point is a step closer to a ‘dip in the jar’.
Please do come and see us if you have a concern about your child and we will do the same. There will be opportunities to look at their learning and progress along the way. We look forward to the opportunities to meet with you over the next year.
